I like to play pick 4’s when TVG (FanDuel) is having a promo where if you win 3 out of 4 you get your money back. This past month a promo was running on the late pick 4 on Saturdays at Remington Park. On 09/17/2022 I put in a $9 ticket with 3/3/2/1 horses in […]

Can you make a living betting on horse races? We’ve all heard stories about tournament poker players who are skilled enough to make a good living. But not many horse players come to mind. The ones that do well usually write books on the topic or sell tip sheets. There are also handicapping contests where […]

If you want to get good at something you need to practice. Placing simulated bets on a horse race is like drinking water and pretending its wine. You get the experience of taking a drink without the sensation that the alcohol provides. I often watch horse racing for entertainment. That’s a sign that you are […]

Claiming races can be some of the hardest horse races to handicap. Many times, the horses all have very similar records. The claiming race will have entry rules like “Three Year Olds, and Upward Which Have Never Won Two Races.” or “Three Year Olds, and Upward Which Have Never Won Three Races.” The horses may […]

During the month of June my goal was to see if I could build up my bankroll by betting wiser and less frequently. My total wager amount was $126.40, and I ended up with $196.80 from 11 winning wagers. The average win was about $18. The biggest win was $32.75 on a pick 3 at […]

If you are into horse racing, you have probably searched the Internet for websites that offer free picks. Most free pick web sites that sell tip sheets only show you the most likely winner. If you want more, they offer exotics and multi race picks for a price. I often wondered how accurate their free […]

This year’s Preakness was held on 5/21/22 at Pimlico. The finishing order was 5 (Early Voting), 8 (Epicenter), 2 (Creative Minister), 4 (Secret Oath). In my last post I listed 4,5,8 as my picks for the Preakness. I just noticed that I made an error listing Simplification as horse #5. Simplification was actually horse #1. […]

Canterbury Park’s 2022 racing season runs from May 18 to Sept 17. For horse players they have a low 10% takeout on the early pick 4 and pick 5 wagers. There is something happening for the family almost every weekend. Although, I find the basset hound, corgi, wiener dog, and zoo animal contests an unwanted […]
