The 2023 Breeders Cup races were held at Santa Anita this past weekend. I managed to place a few win bets with my limited budget. The results for Friday’s grade 1 races are listed below:

Irad Ortiz had a good day on Saturday riding 3 favorites to win. I didn’t do very well only picking 2 winners on Friday for $25 but got my money back on several second and third place finishers. I was mainly looking for non-favorites on Saturday. Betting against White Abarrio was a mistake, but I had been burned earlier in the season when he was on a cold streak. I wasn’t aware that he had changed trainers and was back in peak form. In total I wagered $53 and won $25. This past year on average I got 75% of my wagers back. Last year it was 69%. So, I did have a 6% improvement in 2023. Still, a 25% loss is not what I was hoping for. Over the course of a year, it is difficult to maintain a winning streak. Good luck next year!
