On Friday (3/18/22) I placed a bet on the 50-cent late pick 4 at Santa Anita. I was once again trying to get a piece of the $3000 bonus money that TVG was offering for winners of the late pick 4 on Fridays. I had two horses in the first race, one in the second, and three horses in each of the last two races for a total wager of $9. Mike Smith won the first race on Everlys Girl at odds of 2/1. The next race I had singled Flavien Prat on Pistachio Princess who was the favorite at 3/5. In the 3rd race Mike Smith ended up winning on Speed Boat who was the favorite at 3/2. On the last race of the pick 4 I had the 1/3/6. Flavien Prat was on the favored #1 horse, which had a will pay of only $21. Juan Hernandez was on #3 at odds of 12/1 and Abel Cedillo was on the #6 with odds of 16/1. All three of my horses were coming to the finish line together. Hernandez crossed the line first on #3 Bochombo with the favorite #1 Smuggler’s Run close behind. The pick 4 paid $139.95 and the TVG bonus payout was $14. That means that 214 other TVG customers also hit the same pick 4. My investment was only $9, so it was a 15x return.
