When the local horse track is closed for the season, you have to look elsewhere for horse racing action. In the winter months, the only US tracks that are open are in the southern half of the country. On the weekends you can always find a large track that is open. But on a weekday, it can be difficult to find a track that is open after dark. Last week I was looking for a track that had thoroughbred races on a Thursday night. I found Turfway park, which is located in Florence, KY. They are on Eastern time, so I had to adjust the listed start times back by one hour. They had nine races scheduled with 8 to 10 horses in each race. Being in Kentucky, I figured they would have some good runners, and I wasn’t disappointed. With a just little handicapping, I was able to win a couple of bets to doubled my money.
