This past week my girlfriend and I visited the North Star Casino in Bowler, WI. This is a 1200 slot facility with table games, poker, and bingo. They also have a 97 room hotel and 4 restaurants. We stayed overnight at the hotel, which is only a few years old, so it is still very nice. But, we came for the gaming! I went to the slots while my girlfriend headed to the bingo hall. I found the slots to be typical of other Indian casinos in Wisconsin. I was hitting bonuses, but the payouts were not very impressive. I did see several people winning jackpots of between $1200 and $2000, which is always a good sign. At one point I was up over $100, but easily gave that back as the night progressed. My girlfriend didn’t do much better, winning nothing at bingo, despite the small pre-thanksgiving crowd. As hard as we tried, we couldn’t win any money. There are quite a few reel machines at this casino and photos of the winners on their FB page show most of the jackpots have been won on these older $1 and $5 slots. They do have newer video machines, but none were very productive with their payouts. It’s a nice, well-run casino, but I don’t know if we can afford to stay there overnight again.
