Breeder’s Cup Simulcast

On November 3rd the 2012 Breeder’s Cup horse races were held at the Santa Anita track in CA. The Breeder’s Cup brings out the best of the best horses, Jockeys, and trainers from around the world. We went to Canterbury Park to watch the simulcast and wager on the last 6 races. I’ve never been to a simulcast event, so I wanted to check it out. I was expecting some type of organized setup to view this special event, but that wasn’t the case. Maybe that was in the upper level, where the high rollers hang out, but no one seemed to be acting as host. We had to find a place to sit among the grizzled horse racing regulars. Eventually we figured out which monitors had the Santa Anita track and got settled in. It was a good thing I had printed out the info for the races we were going to watch, because there wasn’t anyone handing out programs. Toward the end, we found a copy of the Racing News, that someone had discarded. The races were good, although it was difficult to pick winners.  There is money to be made, if you can avoid going with the favorites every time. Any horse has the potential to win in these higher grade races.
