In 2024 I have made over 80 virtual pick 4 wagers. A virtual wager is when you handicap a horse race and mark down your picks, but don’t bet any money. The idea is to try and hone your handicapping skills without risking your hard-earned cash. Some people will probably think that this is a waste of time and say, “what’s the point if you aren’t playing with real money”. Most of the time I only get 2 out of 4 races correct. Sometimes I get 3 out of 4 races correct with my imaginary $18 wager. The few times that I have hit 4 of 4 races, the virtual payout was less than the virtual wager. An example of that occurred on 10\/25\/24 at Remington Park where I would have won only $8.75 on my $18 wager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On 12\/21\/24 I marked down my picks for the late pick 4 at Gulfstream Park. The last 4 races were stakes races, which I find to be a fun challenge. I normally write down the following selections to get an idea of who is favored to win each race. The free pick from RacingDudes.com, the selections from TimeForm.com, the Smart Picks from Equibase.com, and the top 3 selections from 1st\/Bet.com. I also list the top 3 jockey\/trainer, speed on surface, and last race finish stats. If I see the same horses appearing in most of these categories, I use that info to limit my picks to one or two horses for that race. Usually these are the strong favorites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For this pick 4 (R8, R9, R10, R11) my picks were 10\/11, 2\/7\/3, 1\/2\/4, 7\/11. In race 8, I went with the top two Timeform.com selections. In race 9 I used the top two 1st\/Bet selections and #3 who was the top Smart Pick selection. In race 10 I choose #1 and #2 based on the jockey\/trainer and added #4 which was to top RacingDudes.com selection. For race 11 the #7 and #11 appeared in all categories except for the RacingDudes.com. The winning horses were #11, #7, #4, #7. The payout for my virtual $18 wager was $775.00, which would have been my biggest win ever.
