My new favorite bet is the 10 cent superfecta box. Picking the top four horses out of a group of six or eight is a challenge that can payoff quite well. The cost for this wager is $2.40, not much more than a $2 win bet. Sometimes I will bump up the wager to 50 cents, which makes the super box cost $12. A few times I have tried building an exotic 50 cent superfecta, by picking two horses in the first and second positions and three horses in the third and fourth positions. The idea is to make the wager come in at $6 and give you the same 5X payout of the 50 cent box. A 5 horse super might look like this: 1,2\/1,2\/3,4,5\/3,4,5. Basically, the first two positions are boxed and the last two positions are boxed. This gives you 12 possible combinations with a 50 cent superfecta wager that totals $6. The best I’ve done so far is $232 on a 50 cent superfecta box. Since I usually only budget $20 per race, $12 is a big wager for me, so I don’t do it unless I’m confident of the outcome. The superfecta is one of the only wagers that gives you a chance at winning thousands, if you pick well.<\/p>\n
